Vacation at the lake

For starters this was a week long vacation at the lake up north from us. We arrived at the cabin/campgrounds and it was a very nice place. They had daily activities minnow races, potluck night, sandcastle contests, treasure hunt. Along with ping pong table, basketball hoop, board games, indoor pool, hot tub, mini store, wood for your campfires ready to use. At the lake they had canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, water trampoline and other fun toys for the kids to use. They even had a baggie of milk bone dog biscuits for our dog in the cabin when we arrived. We met some other people that were there vacationing too. Spent one night around the campfire with a big group it was lots of fun.
On Monday, we headed out to Itasca State Park and went and saw the Mississippi Headwaters. It was really neat to see where the river actually begins.
On Tuesday the guys went on a fishing trip. Here is a picture of Tyler's catch of the day. A 40+ inch, approx. 20# Northern Pike. He doesn't even realize how big of a deal it is to catch one that size. lol
Wednesday it was cool out so we just kind of hung around at the indoor pool and rested most of the day.
Thursday back to the beach for more swimming until Zach saw a leech in the water and then refused to get back into the lake! So back to the indoor pool with him. So much for my tan I was working on.
Friday we met a friend of dh's and he set the boys up on a 4 wheeler and a 6 wheeler to ride in an open harvested hay field. They had a blast riding. Then we went on a few trails through woods and over fallen trees and tall grass the boys had to drive through too. They loved it all.
Saturday headed home , unpacked, started laundry. Then it was off to see a concert of Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynrd at the state fair here. It was a fun way to end our vacation.
