I'm sad because my oldest has decided to join the army. He is unsatisfied with life right now and has decided to make a major change. He wanted something more in his future. I can't blame him for wanting that, haven't we all at one time or another.
The happy part is, he will be happy and its what he wants. He has picked an army diver as his job. If all goes well and he gets qualified after the schooling then he will work as a diver in the army. In a few years he will be trained to do many many other jobs outside of the army. As a mom I did not want him to join, but as a mom I told him I would support anything he decides no matter what! That if he is unhappy , life is way to short to spend it being unhappy and to do what will make him happy. He is not the type of guy who makes rash decisions, he has done his research and held out for what job he wanted in the army, he has thought it out well for the last 4 months or so. He gets to go in with a higher rank to start with because he has gone to college and scored high on the entry exams. He will be eligible for officer's training schools as well if he so chooses to do that.
So to my oldest, I love you very much and I support your choices in life 100%. Its your life to live so do whatever will make you happy and have fun! I'm so proud of you and your brothers!

Wow - that's a big move, but it sounds like he is very confident in his decision. Please thank him for his willingness to serve for our freedom. I am more appreciative than I can express.
